This program was developed by Professor Susan Murphy’s Spring 2003 Organizational Intervention class based on their training needs analysis. The training includes such diverse topics as Leadership Development Theory, Non-verbal Communications, Critical Thinking Skills, Persuasive Speaking and several outdoor exercise sessions.

Mentoring    Psychology 103, Mentoring    The Kravis Mentoring Program at Claremont McKenna College was developed by Susan E. Murphy, Ph.D., and is sponsored by the Kravis Leadership Institute. Through a partnership with El Roble Intermediate School in Claremont, the program brings together local seventh graders and college students who participate in group activities and individual mentoring relationships.  College students in the program earn one full credit for this course that covers two semesters. Group activities include weekly after school meetings, occasional field trips outside the community, and community service projects in the local area. See further mentoring program information here.

Workshop: Multiple Intelligences for Leadership    This workshop will show participants how multiple domains of intelligence play a part in effective leadership.  Based on the latest research in this emerging area, and conducted by one of its leading scholars, participants will learn about definitions of multiple intelligences, how they are measured, and their applications to effective management and leadership.  Drawing on a three-component model (verbal intelligence, emotional intelligence, social intelligence), Dr. Riggio presents what scholars actually know about how these important abilities affect leadership – separating the truth from the myths and hype.  Aimed at educated, professional managers/leaders, this workshop will not only inform participants regarding multiple domains of intelligence, but participants will receive some basic indication of their emotional and social intelligence strengths via a short assessment. See further information on this workshop here.
